Sweets for the Sweet

New Jaqua Girls’ beauty kits come packaged in pastry boxes for girls’ night parties centered on allsorts of yummy treats.

Jaqua Girls, the niche brand built on girl-bonding kits such as the Beauty Parlor Night Kit, Sweet Feet Foot Care Kit and Beauty & The Bath Kit, has launched new products for Spring 2003.

To mark its fifth year anniversary, Jaqua Girls, based in Santa Barbara, CA, is expanding from its signature paint can packaging and presenting its latest beauty treats in petite, pink pastry boxes. The new look is the result of brain-storming by Allison Jaqua, one of the company founders, and Kate Scherer, who serves as Jaqua’s assistant, creative director and graphic designer.
Jaqua said the inspiration for the new packaging came from “the feminine craving we all share for Girl Talk over late night sessions of sweets.

“While our packaging is changing, our commitment to bringing the finest food-based spa treatments to our customers is not,” Jaqua stated. “Five years ago, Jaqua Girls was founded on the commitment to encourage women to gather as they rejuvenate their bodies and souls. From day one, our spa treatments have been simple, pure recipes developed in our family kitchen and passed on to customers across the globe. As we enter our fifth year of business, we continue to encourage the celebration of friendships and rejuvenation of spirit with our innovative and affordable spa treatments,” she emphasized.

The new kits—Feet Treats, Bath Bakery, Sweet Heart Kit, Beauty Sweets, and Sweet Face—were introduced in late 2002. House of Packaging in the Los Angeles area supplies the custom “cake” boxes and the printing is done at West Coast Labels in Los Angeles.
Sisters Jennifer, Allison and Sara Jaqua started Jaqua Girls in 1997 when they realized that a kit-based line could serve as the basis of girls’ beauty nights—popular events for women of all ages.

The original line was packaged in one-gallon paint cans, each containing enough ingredients for six women or girls to create their own beauty nights. The first kits included natural botanical ingredients for manicures, pedicures or facials.

Jaqua Girls quickly outgrew the garage where the founders once packaged each kit themselves. The line is now distributed through more than 2,000 prestige gift shops, specialty and department stores in the U.S., England, Canada, Germany, Scandinavia, France, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong.

The kits are manufactured in San Bernardino, CA. In 2001, Jaqua Girls established offices in Los Angeles and New York City.
